Shore Temple:
The Shore Temple, built a little after 700 AD, is a temple complex which is situated by the sea.
The temple has two shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and a third to Lord Vishnu.
This five-storeyed Hindu monument is a pyramidal structure 60 ft high and 50 ft square at the base.
The rock-cut temple has been sculpted entirely out of granite stones and features architecture by the Pallavas and Cholas, the latter being the next kingdom to settle in the town after defeating the former.
Speculation is rife that the temple is one among seven sister temples, six of which are believed to be underwater.
The temple was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.
About Oxytocin
The hormone released by the pituitary gland is responsible for human bonding activities such as sex, childbirth and breastfeeding.
The hormone injection is misused to increase the size of vegetables and fruits.
In the dairy industry, livestock are often injected with the hormone to spur the release of milk which when reaches humans cause medical problems such as nausea, early puberty and foetal damage.
The drug is misused among trafficked children to accelerate puberty among girls.
Oxytocin is widely misused in the dairy industry where this drug is injected into livestock to increase milk production artificially.
Oxytocin is administered to pregnant women to “prevent and treat” postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) which causes 35 % of maternal mortality across the world.
